This course prepares the student to start a professional career in homeopathy by reviewing the various laws and regulations that surround the practice of homeopathy in Ontario, as set out by the College of Homeopaths of Ontario (CHO). Students will learn about issues relating to the establishment of a therapeutic relationship, how to set appropriate boundaries and to act in a professional and ethical manner in various challenging situations which may arise during the practice of homeopathy. Students will become acquainted with fundamental aspects of being a regulated health professional, like the need to obtain informed consent, the appropriate use of credentials, patient confidentiality, and record keeping, billing and advertising standards. Students will also learn about the Jurisprudence standards and bylaws set by the CHO and how these regulate homeopathic practice. Finally, the course discusses the essential business skills that students require to establish and maintain a thriving practice and to continue their professional development as a homeopaths upon graduation.
